Apple Cider Vinegar Supplements
Apple cider vinegar enjoyed its fame in the 1970’s when a highly publicized diet appropriately called “The Cider
Vinegar Diet” became an instant diet craze. It promised that a few teaspoons of this vinegar taken before meals
would increase a person’s metabolism and burn body fat. Today, it is praised for its many other health benefits, and made available in the form of
apple cider vinegar supplements, sold in capsules or pills.

The main ingredient in all vinegars is acetic acid which is created from a variety of fruits, vegetables and
grains. Apple cider vinegar is formulated from pulverized apples; it contains vitamins, mineral salts and amino
acids, hence, good for your health.
Health Benefits
The alternative health medicine movement has been quick to adopt apple cider vinegar for its seemingly endless list
of health benefits. Although some people choose to ingest it in its natural liquid state, its distinct bitter taste
is not agreeable to everyone. Thanks to today’s natural food manufacturers, the consumer can now purchase apple
cider vinegar supplements.
A comprehensive list of its uses is nearly impossible but here are some notable claims:
- Can lower blood sugar levels in type II diabetics
- Helps with water retention as it regulates water content in cells and flushes sodium from the body
- Improves blood circulation, regulates blood pressure, slows down calcification in the arteries
- Improves concentration and memory
- Known to eliminate allergic reactions to pets, food, and the environment
- Controls high cholesterol
- Can be used as a remedy against sinus infections, colds, flu and sore throats
- Improves chronic fatigue, acid reflux and arthritic pain
- Soothes skin conditions such as contact dermatitis, acne, and dandruff
- Helps to detoxify the body
- Has been linked to the reversal of the aging process
- Relieves pain associated with severe sunburn, and soothes stings from wasps, insects, and even
jellyfish.
Can Apple Cider Vinegar Supplements Cure Everything?
Before you throw away your blood pressure pills and add apple cider vinegar supplements to your growing list of
natural remedies, be smart. There has not been extensive testing to verify health claims, and these supplements are
not regulated by the FDA. Moreover, not only could they contain additives, but the amounts of actual apple cider
vinegar in the different types of supplements do vary.
If you suffer from any of the maladies listed above, it may be possible to take apple cider vinegar supplements
in addition to, but not instead of, your prescribed medication. However, it is important that you consult with your
physician before combining any new treatment with your regular medication. Read the labels diligently and take only
the recommended dose. If apple cider vinegar supplements cause you any malaise, discontinue immediately and seek
medical advice.
Prior to today’s promotion of apple cider vinegar supplements for general well-being, vinegar was used
auspiciously in the past for innumerable other household purposes. The advocates swear by it. Traditional medicine
has recently added it to cancer research projects; no results have been published as yet.
